A private arts centre in Malaysia

Mahmood Martin Foundation’s inaugural Delima Arts Residency is with Rimbun Dahan, a privately owned arts centre in Kuang, Selangor. It is one with which we have personal links and we hope to be able to continue with this as our main residency annually.

We are happy to announce our working relationship with Guildhouse for this project.

For the 2020 residency we will fund two visual and multidisciplinary artists, craftspeople and designers for 3 months at Rimbun Dahan,  with the purpose of furthering intercultural exchange.

We will also be opening the offer up to photographers, writers, performers. musicians and curators in the coming year(s).

What the residency provides….

Funds for :

  • a Return Airfare to Kuala Lumpur (for the artist only if travelling with family)
  • accomodation for 3 months – artists with small families may be accomodated at no extra charge – including kitchen
  • studio space
  • art materials – to be bought locally or while in Malaysia
  • basic allowance

It is a residency (2020) that caters for:

  • Visual Art
  • Sculpture
  • Textile Art
  • Curatorial
  • Other

Other supports

Social support will be provided while in Malaysia should it be required. There will be an introduction prior to travel and on arrival

Information re transport, wifi, sim cards etc will be provided prior to travel

Exchange of ideas and culture

There will be a unique opportunity to mix with and exchange ideas with local and visiting artists from elsewhere in the world

An environment rich in possibilities

Rimbun Dahan provides a unique secluded environment which encourages creating and making in the grounds of an ecoconscious private estate with it’s own Asian herb garden and underground gallery. Those interested in nature, flora and fauna will find this a most conducive and relaxing space.
